Our Blog

We collaborate with professionals, teachers and schools, over the years we've met some genuinely brilliant and interesting people. Each with their own specialism. Take a look at what we have to say.

A busy October for young designers and makers

What a great month we have had working with over 350 children and young people. We kicked off with Fizz bots – tiny rechargeable motors that you can use anywhere!  Y6 at St Stephens used them to animate their own Greek Gods made from egg cartons.

Next came our Design Camp – 20 KS2 & KS3 pupils worked with Gregor McMillan from Latymer School to design and make go-karts. It was a hectic 3 days but everyone created a fabulous go -kart to take home and race around the park in.

We also worked with a group of young disabled people (13-25) and textiles designer Suzanne Roberts. Everyone made a gorgeous bag from a t-shirt which they wore with deserved pride. It was a fun day and lovely to have so many young people enjoying the workshop.

Then it was all hands on deck for Bamboo Day at St Peters Primary School. 270 children from Y1-Y6 made wonderful creations from bamboo. From Reception and Y1’s incredibly professional pencil pots decorated with washi tape and ink stains, Y2 and Y3’s buildings from Tudor England and modern day London; Y4 made bamboo guiros, Y5 designed wonderful necklaces and Y6 who worked with James Marr from the Bamboo Bicycle Club to create fabulous acoustic speakers. What a day!

We’re feeling pretty tired just writing this but a truly fabulous month for everyone at Design Education and huge thanks to all those Designers and students who took part.
